Goulburn's Cemeteries

Information on Goulburn's Cemeteries.   Master Plans for the Goulburn General Cemetery and the Kenmore Cemetery were adopted by Council on 21 March 2006.

Goulburn General Cemetery

The Goulburn General Cemetery commenced operation in about 1903 and is located on the corner of Sydney and Gorman Roads North Goulburn.

This is a fully operational cemetery and is open every day.

It is divided into the following denominations:

  • Church of England
  • Methodist
  • Presbyterian
  • Baptist
  • Salvation Army
  • Seventh Day Adventist
  • Interdenomination
  • Undenomination
  • War grave section
  • Lawn section
There is also memorial niche walls available for the interment of cremated remains. These walls are the Helen Gulson Memorial Wall, the Banksia, Waratah and Wattle Niche Walls.

There is also a lawn section set aside for dual interment of cremated remains.

Goulburn General Cemetery Master Plan

Master Plan for Goulburn General Cemetery was adopted by Council on 21 March 2006, Minute No. 06/155 and is effective from 29 March 2006.  A copy of the Master Plan may be downloaded from this site.

Kenmore Cemetery

Kenmore Cemetery (also known as Saint Patricks Catholic Cemetery) is located on the Middle Arm Road Goulburn, is fully operational and open every day.

Council assumed responsibility for this Cemetery in April 1998 and up until May 2002 it was essentially a monument burial ground and there was only very limited burial space left.

In May 2002 Council extended the Cemetery and now offer a lawn section as well as a headstone section on the western side of the chapel.

A portion of this Cemetery is retained by the Catholic Church. It contains the graves of nuns, priest and a Chapel.

The grounds and records of both the General and Catholic Cemeteries are maintained by Council.

Kenmore Cemetery Master Plan

Master Plan for the Kenmore Cemetery was adopted by Council on 21 March 2006, Minute No.06/155 and is effective from 29 March 2006.  A copy of the Master Plan may be downloaded from this site.

Jewish Cemetery

The Jewish Cemetery is located in Long Street, North Goulburn and is no longer operational.  This Cemetery is now maintained as a historic site.  For further information please contact Council's Parks and Recreation Department on (02) 4823 4462.

Mortis Street Cemetery

The Mortis Street Cemetery is located in North Goublurn adjacent to the Goulburn Correctional Centre.  This Cemetery is no longer operational and is maintained as a historic site.  For further information please contact Council's Parks and Recreation Department on (02) 4823 4462.
