Barking or nuisance dogs

Last modified: November 9, 2009 - 10:50 PM

Barking dogs are a nuisance to neighbours and have a serious effect on the quality of life for those affected.

The following procedures are provided as guidelines for alleviating the problems associated with a dog in the neighbourhood.

  • If you have problems associated with a barking or nuisance dog, Council suggests that you first approach the owner of the dog, as he or she may not be aware that a nuisance exists.
  • In most cases owners want to do the right thing and will co-operate.
  • If this is unsuccessful, please contact the Planning & Environment Department on 4823 4409. Council's Ranger will investigate the problem and take appropriate action. Information packages on how to deal with barking or nuisance dogs are also available from Council.
