No visit to Goulburn would be complete without stopping to smell the roses! And what magnificent roses await you at Goulburn, The City of Roses. Enjoy a stroll through the magnificent rose gardens of Victoria Park, located in the heart of Goulburn, bordered by Deccan, Faithful, Verner, Goldsmith Streets. The Rose garden displays over 150 varieties of Roses with the highlight of the garden being the beautiful apricot and copper toned City of Goulburn Rose. The City of Goulburn Rose was especially propagated by Swane's Nursery in Sydney to depict the charm and character of Goulburn.
Facilities in Victoria Park include electric BBQ's, shelters and children's play equipment and rest areas. Each year Goulburn hosts the annual Rose Festival weekend in March, which coincides with Goulburn's Heritage festival that celebrates Goulburn's birthday, on the 14 March. Goulburn was proclaimed a City on 14 March 1863, by Royal Letters patent by Queen Victoria, making it Australia's First Inland City. Over 22 Rose gardens are located in various roundabouts and Parklands around Goulburn.
