Goulburn Mulwaree Council has received a number of major awards since forming in 2004, including:

Highly Commended (second place) in the Cultural Hertiage Category of the 2009 Tidy Towns Awards for the Friends of the Museums initiative.

2008 RH Douherty Award for Excellence in Communication for Council's Community Outreach initiatives.

Cr Maureen Eddy and Cr Margaret O’Neill received Outstanding Service Awards from the Local Government and Shires Association in June 2008 for each committing more than 20-years service to Local Government.
- Council's Tourism Manager Sarah Dawson received the 2008 Rod Murdoch Memorial Award for the best individual contribution to regional tourism. (Presented at the Local Government and Shires Association Tourism Conference in Lismore in March 2008).

Council received the national Planning Institute of Australia’s 2008 Rural and Regional Planning Achievement Award in April 2008 for the Rural Living Handbook.

The 2007 A.R. Bluett Memorial Award, which is considered the highest accolade to which a NSW Council can aspire. Chairman of the A.R. Bluett Memorial Trust, John Flannery PSM, said Council's success in the Bluett Award was a result of sound and progressive management and community leadership at a time when the area was experiencing major water supply problems. Council was also noted for its innovative approaches to rural community development.

Southern Tablelands Group Training Apprentice Host Employer of the Year 2007. This award recognises “dedication and commitment towards the training and development of apprentices and trainees”.

The Rural Living Handbook was also recognised with the 2007 Planning Institute of Australia (NSW Division) President's Award. The handbook also won the award program's Rural and Regional Planning Achievement Category.

2007 LGMA Management Excellence Award for our long term financial modelling program - Merit Award.

2007 Rod Murdoch Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Tourism.

2007 Public Works Engineering Australia's Excellence Awards (NSW) for 10 Years Commitment to Road Safety.

2006 RH Dougherty Award for Excellence in Communication for the Rural Living Handbook.
