Level 3 Water Restrictions

Due to the recent rainfall, Goulburn Mulwaree Council has announced the easing of water restrictions to Level 3. This came into effect as from midnight Thursday 5 July 2007.

Level 3 restrictions are as follows:

RESIDENTIAL

  • Watering of gardens and lawns is limited to a hand held hose for one hour per day. This one hour is before 10.00am or after 4.00 pm.
  • Buckets and watering cans can be used to water gardens and lawns at any time during the day.
  • Only one hose per household is permitted.
  • No fixed sprinklers, inground watering systems, soaker hoses or microsprays are permitted on private residences.
  • The use of hoses for washing motor vehicles and hosing paths, pavements, driveways and buildings is banned. Bucket washing only is allowed. Motor vehicles may only be washed on grassed areas.
  • Filling and topping up of private swimming pools and water tanks with town water is prohibited.
INDUSTRIAL / COMMERCIAL /SCHOOLS / BUSINESS

·         The use of sprinklers and fixed water systems on public and commercial gardens, nurseries, bowling greens, public parks and active playing surfaces of sporting grounds is banned. Hand held trigger hoses is limited to two hours per day.  

·         Hand held trigger hoses may be used for one hour per day during business hours for industrial, commercial and business activities.       

·         Exemptions may be granted for commercial activities impacted by the above water restrictions. All previous exemptions under Level 5 are rendered void as at 13 July 2007 and businesses must re-apply for Level 3 exemptions.

Level three water restrictions will apply to all properties connected to the Goulburn Mulwaree Council water reticulation system and includes Run-O-Waters Estate. The restrictions will apply until further notice.

Under Section 637 of the Local Government Act 1993, a person who wilfully or negligently wastes or misuses water from the public water supply, or causes any such water to be wasted, is guilty of an offence for which the maximum penalty is a fine of $2200.

An exemption form is available for downloading below for people wishing to apply for for an exemption under Level 3.

Please continue to conserve water at all times to ensure a continued supply of water.
